INTRODUCTION

For the growing population, one of the foremost dependencies will be on agriculture for most of our needs. We understand the importance of agriculture in daily life and also for the economic development of our country. We take this opportunity to exhibit the significance of farming and to create awareness of crops cultivation under different climatic conditions. We have combined Lego and Qtpi bots to showcase few various methodologies to protect our yields and to help our farmers.

A Soil testing bot which determines the soil characteristics and its moisture level for plant transpiration.  A ploughing and sowing bot automates the work of farmers. Few other bots helps securing the crops by giving higher quality and minimal wastage to farmers market.

There is a considerable improvement and advancement in farming. This comes as a result of the increase in the demand for sustainability and achievement of food security goals. In addition, technology as found its way in farming leading to the introduction of technological approaches in farming that has led to immense changes in way people farm nowadays. This provides you with an overview of some of the modern types of farming methods.

PHASE 1 Empathize

PHASE 2 Define

The aims of modern agricultural methods are two. One is to have a very high yield of the farm produce. Secondly, it is to get good profit out of the farm products.  To achieve these, adequate input to the farm is very important. They are the determiners for a good and fruitful harvest. They include monoculture, irrigation, intense tillage, and use of inorganic fertilizer, chemical control of pest and genetically manipulating of plants. All these methods play a great deal in production. However their use is dependent on the type of crop and the necessity of using the method of choice. The need for a specialist is important. They give advice and services to the farmer on the best method to use. This is depending on the availability of resources in addition to cost of production.

PHASE 4 Prototype

We have tested the project and found that it is able to perform the function assigned to it successfully in a controlled environment.

PHASE 5 Test

We have developed the project in a ‘Design Thinking’ based approach. There are five stages involved in a design thinking based approach for solving a problem, they are:

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION

Our team had vast learning experience in Arduino programming and Lego mindstrom Ev3 programming. We are able to flexibly build the structure of our robots. As a team, we are capable of thinking logically, problem solving and cognitive learning. Often, we work together in order to creatively design a robot that functions well. We have developed interpersonal skills to articulate better understanding of the robots. To conclude, we have individually improved overall to pursue careers in AI and Robotics.

Team's Learning Experience

We have seen how Artificial Intelligence has performed with minimal human intervention and completing complex tasks without the need of human involvement. We are looking forward to implement these projects to find if bots helps securing the crops by giving higher quality and minimal wastage to farmer’s market. Also we are interested in enhancing the features of our robots to make the productivity more.
